As 2018 comes to an end I wanted to find a way to focus on faith as I see the year out. This week I have been studying Galatians and think I have discovered what I want to challenge myself with and I'd love it if you'd join me. While reading I became very drawn to Galatians 5:22-23 and found myself wondering do I live a life that prioritises these qualities within my heart?

So Galatians 5:22-23 says

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

I read this verse again and again and then I wrote the list down. I tried to write out how many times I had done something in the past week with the cultivation of these qualities in mind; the number of times was shockingly low. Now I know that we should be working on these things each and every day, but I cannot remember the last time that I tried to specifically started my day with the intention to cultivate one or more of these traits. I have decided that has to change; what better time to do it than at the turn of a new year!

So starting next week (Mon, Dec 24th) I am focusing on one characteristic a day. I am working through them backwards so first I am working on my self-control and studying different verses on self-control. I will then continue throughout the week with:

Gentleness (Tue, Dec 25th)

Faithfulness (Wed, Dec 26th)

Goodness (Thur, Dec 27th)

Kindness (Fri, Dec 28th)

Forbearance (patience) (Sat, Dec 29th)

Peace (Sun, Dec 30th)

Joy (Mon, Dec 31st)

Love (Tues, Jan 1st)

So this challenge will take me through the Christmas period all the way through to the beginning of 2019 and I'm hoping you would join me! I have made a free printable for you to help you (and me) as we strive to be "Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit" which coincidentally is the name of this printable. I know it doesn't look very fancy but please don't judge it too harshly (it is my first one after all) and I know that this is going to help me through this challenge, my hope and prayer is that it will help you too.

If you have found this post way after Christmas or the new year that's okay, this challenge can be done anytime and I would still encourage you to download it and give it a try.

The cover page of the Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23 Free Printable Centre text reads Cultivating the Fruits of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23 Searching for faith. the page is bordered with watercolour fruit

(Now I have made two versions of this free printable, the original version and the ink friendly version. the original has a few border images on each page while the ink friendly version only had images on the cover page. The content of both are the same, the images are the only difference between the two. It is entirely up to you which one you use, I would love feedback on which one you used and why.)

If you are going to join me on this challenge please let me know, I would love to see how you find it. If you download and complete the printable I would welcome any and all feedback on it. Only seven more days till we can get started, I can't wait!
