Life goes by so fast these days it feels like we can't fit everything into the day. It feels like we're dropping things or simply not having enough time in the day to get it all done. Sometimes we don't get in a prayer or a set Bible time, we feel like we haven't had much of God in our life that day. So if we can find small ways to bring more of Him into our lives I'm pretty sure we will all jump on them.

There are so many ways that we can bring God into our daily lives. Of course, there is our daily prayers and our quiet time but there are other smaller ways that we can make room for Jesus each day. Now we can't really 'make room' for God in our lives because He's always there, He's our whole lives but we can make more room for Him in the way we spend our time during the day.

Have verses up around the house

I believe I have mentioned before that I have verse cards up in my house, I think it is one of the best ways to bring more of God into my life. I have Psalm 119:105 on my bedside lamp, Psalm 118:24 on my alarm clock, Romans 8:38-39 on my mirror, Proverbs 16:24 by my laptop and Proverbs 3:5-6 and Jeremiah 29:11 by my door. I swap some of them out every now and again but regardless of what verse it is they just give me little reminders throughout my day. I always try to take the time to read the note cards every time I pass them because firstly it really helps to memorise them and secondly there's no reason to have it there if I am not going to read it. I like to think of them as notes from God to me, little reminders to get me through my day in a way that is most honouring of Him.

Apps

I have a question for you, how much time do you spend on your phone every day? 1 hour? 2 hours? 3 or more? I have another question, how many of your apps point you to Jesus? Maybe you have the Bible app? A devotional app? Third and final question, which apps do you spend more time on apps that point you to Christ or apps that glorify the world? Now I understand that there are things that we need to do on our phones outside of Christian apps (Messenger to talk to my friends, Pinterest for ideas and Instagram because I love outfits of the day and finding new things,) but there are many Christian apps you can use every day that can really help you in making more room for God in your life. I personally use PrayerMate that helps me to keep on top of all my prayers and I use the You Version Bible App, which leads nicely on to my next point.

Audio Bible

The You Version Bible app in some translations you can listen to it as an audio Bible, I personally listen to NIV as I find it the easiest to follow along to. The best part about it is that you can listen while you do other things; when you're getting ready in the morning, in the car or while you are preparing food are all examples of when I've listened to mine within the last week. I know some people feel that it is a distraction to do something else while listening to the Bible but I feel it can be a great way to bring more of the Lord into your life. I am not saying washing up and listing to the Bible should replace your quiet time because it most certainly should not but I think that listening to the Bible while you are doing housework, shopping or working out can be a really great way to bring God back into your day.

Media

If you are the kind of person who prefers to work out to music rather than the Bible then this one may be for you. Find your self some good Christian music if you have trouble finding Christian artists or songs that you like there are many songs that can be Christian if you turn the focus on to God rather than the original topic. If you are more of a visual person or spend hours going through YouTube videos then maybe finding some online videos would be a better media option for you. I personally love the Bible Project their videos are always wonderfully insightful and educational if you have a spare fifteen minutes. I also love watching Christian YouTubers and old Christian shows I watched as A kid if I need my spirits lifted (or when I am finding my hairbrush...) There are so many good songs and videos out there that you can watch and listen to in your spare few minutes or while your on the go that can bring a little bit more of God into your day.

Rest

This one may sound strange as a way to be closer to Jesus but there are many places in the Bible that advocate rest. It is important for your mental and physical health to rest daily, your body and brain need a break for the stress put on it by the world. That is why I have a not in my phone simply titled Matthew 11:28 if I have time when I see that note I make a point to put down all I am doing and take a prayer break. Take time out of your day to rest, if it is five minutes on your lunch break to pray and rest, no phone (unless you are using the prayer app,) no distractions just time for you and God. Allow your mind to rest don't let the worries of the day attack you during this time, let the Lord protect your mind from these daily stresses for this short time. You can pray, you can talk, you can just be still, just take a break from the day to think of the Lord.

I am sure there are many other things that you can do to bring a little more God in you your day but those are the five that I am currently practising in my life. Since bringing these habits into my life I can honestly say that not only have I felt my connection with God become stronger I also feel better mentally and physically and emotionally. My mind is more at ease and my panic attacks have decreased in number I genuinely believe that the decline was caused by these five things as the decrease has coincided with me starting and continuing with them. I am so thankful to the Lord for all the opportunities he has provided me to draw closer to him throughout my day and I shall continue to look for more as the year progresses.

Do you do any of these things during your day? Do you have other things you do daily that draw you nearer to God? What is your favourite way to bring Jesus into your life daily? Let me know I always love to hear from you.
